building a basic web page

3. Gifs/ JPGs

Basically images in html have to be either gifs or jpgs. Gifs are generally images that are small and/or not photographs which require a "good" image. JPGs are used for better quality photographs. .. this is very much non-tech-speak!

Inserting images into Home Page is as simple as inserting them into any other document.
Home Page has an accompanying Library found under FILE which is very easy to use. Simply select the image you require and drag it onto the page. It can be relocated by dragging it to wherever you wish to place it (see Tables to rearrange positioning)

To insert an image from another source (clip art, photo, etc) click the Insert Image icon from the tool bar and navigate to locate the image you require.
To resize click on the image and then on the Object Editor icon. The width and the height will be shown. Simply resize keeping proportions equal. If an image has a white and you would like it to be transparent in the same window

Consolidate your images (check that they are all in the folder designated and correctly linked) by clicking on the Consolidate icon

All gifs or jpgs must have either .gif or .jpg added to their name. For example the image on the right is titled butterfly.gif
If a gif or a jpg has a two word title you must ensure that a full stop or unscore separates the words. Do not leave it blank or use a slash. For example: red_dot.gif
or even red.dot.gif but not red dot.gif or red/dot.gif
