Santa sites for that Christmas unit
a number of Santa Claus and other related Christmas sites to help with that unit for the end of term.

Christmas Around the World - a great resource. This is a huge list of links to sites all over the world with information, web quests etc etc about Christmas. Have a look, bookmark it and use it when planning for that end of year activity.

Classroom Clip Art

A former classroom teacher put together this site that is easy to use and has great images. Be sure students read the terms of use and understand that these are to be used for educational uses only. A nifty feature, if you want to just browse the site, is the RAND button in the box with the category links. This brings up a page of random images, so you can get an idea of the scope of the collection.

How Stuff Works TEACHERS CORNER
The Teacher's Corner is where teachers and parents can find valuable materials for classroom or home-school instruction.
How Stuff Works Express is designed as a stand alone resource requiring little additional classroom instruction. Three sections of the publication provide "teacher-ready" materials. These are available for free to teachers and parents simply by registering.

I had lots of fun with this one - very simple but has many applications for classroom use.

For easy reference, the main Web page features the most frequently requested stats, such as televisions and military expenditures per capita. Nation Master also allows visitors the option of creating their own graphs in order to effectively compare different nations. The site also has links to national profiles. Additionally, the site has a search engine, and a place where visitors can read short facts on the different countries.
Apart from being interesting to browse through, the site will be helpful for students looking for basic statistics on the world's different countries.

Aneki.com provides a site that can be very helpful for middle and high school students doing research on countries around the world. Primary Games - Curriculum Guide

Looking for a game to match your school's curriculum? Use the Curriculum Guide to find the right game or activity to meet your classroom needs.
The guide is broken up into four areas: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Within each subject area, a checklist shows the skills and grade level appropriateness of each activity. The games were assembled and evaluated by Susan Shuey Beasley, Technology Support Specialist at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, Alexandria, VA. Requires Flash and Shockwave.

Weather Scope: An Investigative Study of Weather and Climate

Weather Scope is a new educational project that uses online real time data investigations and hands-on activities to guide student discovery of the science behind the factors that affect weather and climate. After completing this project, the students will learn how to how to record weather data and represent it in graphs and maps, how to compare weather in different places and different times, and ultimately be able to identify and explain the factors that affect temperature and current weather conditions, and possibly forecast future ones. Weather Scope is recommended for students grades 5 through 8 and can be implemented on the 9-12 grade level. (note: US levels)
