CIA - World Factbook - yes, that CIA. Site contains up-to-date facts on most countries in the world. Well worth a visit.
A Maths Dictionary for Kids - Australian teacher, Jenny Eather, wrote this animated, interactive dictionary for students which explains over 400 common mathematical terms in simple language.
Not exactly Dictionaries OR Encyclopedias but sites with links to almost everything...
Maps of the World (Map
Zone)
A clean, simple interface makes this one a winner. Find maps using
the interactive world map, go directly to one of the 7 Regional maps,
or use the alphabetic index of countries. Portions of the site are
based on the CIA World Fact Book. Once you zero in on a map, you will
also be given the official name, Capital, area, water, land,
location, geographic coordinate, comparative info, land boundaries,
border countries, coastline, terrain, and elevation extremes in a
basic table format.

MULTIMAP.COM - ONLINE MAPS TO EVERYWHERE
Can't find a certain place? Want to give someone directions to your school? your town? your own place? This free resource will locate just about anything anywhere. Just type in your country, street, suburb or town, state and postcode and hit "find". The resulting map can be enlarged by simply clicking on it and zooming in. You can even add the address number to highlight the exact position or just the town and zoom in. Wonderful ... and a bit spooky eh?

carefully selected subject specific internet sites. It is a virtual
library and reference tool that provides easy access to safe
sites.
The Encyclopedia of Days is a work in progress that includes descriptions of holidays from all over the world. Most of these holidays are grouped alphabetically by country, religion, or topic. Religous entries include Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism. There are calendar related topics like epact and dominical letter. I am constantly making additions. Some holidays with more complete descriptions include Christmas, April Fools' Day, May Day. Halloween, Valentine's Day, Friday the Thirteenth, and many more. You can browse through these entries by selecting a letter from the bottom of the home page, or you can use the search tool to find what you're looking for.

The Nation Master is an excellent resource for finding out any
number of current details about just about any country in the world.
For easy reference, the main Web page features the most frequently
requested stats, such as televisions and military expenditures per
capita. Nation Master also allows visitors the option of creating
their own graphs in order to effectively compare different nations.
The site also has links to national profiles. Additionally, the site
has a search engine, and a place where visitors can read short facts
on the different countries.
Apart from being interesting to browse through, the site will be
helpful for students looking for basic statistics on the world's
different countries.
