ROAD TO GRAMMAR
Here's a free site with 365 grammar quizzes which would be good for ESL
students or anyone wanting to practice grammar in the classroom.

BIO CUBE
This site is designed for writing a biography or an autobiography. It has kids reviewing the information they learn after reading a biography or interviewing a person. When kids print it out, the information is in an outline of a cube that kids can cut and glue to make a 3D cube.
This is REALLY neat! Have a look!

Theatre on a Shoestring - http://upstagereview.org/
This website is a comprehensive resource for anyone in the drama classroom, in production for a play or musical, or simply in love with theatre.Avail yourself of the resources found here...extensive production photos, classroom ideas, theatre games, stagecraft how-to's, a play spreadsheet, publisher info, synopses, theatre links, THE STANDING OVATION AWARD, a "get help" forum... ...and more, MORE, MORE!!!!.

Creative Writing Process
Created by a teacher in Canada, it's a no-frills approach that covers all of the steps including: brainstorming, mapping, outlines, editing, references, and reproducible worksheets. It walks students through the entire process using examples and even includes some word processing tips.

wickED - Literacy Stuff
A number of interactive literacy activities can accessed at this website provided by TKI, the New Zealand Ministry of Education. The activities include interactive games, crosswords, and links to useful literacy websites. The interactive games require a recent version of Shockwave

READING UNITS
Here is a great site a teacher in Tennessee developed. It has reading novel studies on over 20 books! Questions, vocabulary, activities for every chapter, on line things, in all the books!

Spellarama. This site offers a cool letter card game for kids to print out for free and it works with sound cards.

OzSpeller - Free Australian online spelling and typing tutors
This is a free stand alone spelling and typing tutor that operates online with minimum supervision. Your teachers and students may find it very usefull.

POETRY EXPRESS
The site is fun to use: try writing a poem with E-Muse, where you fill in the blanks and see what shows up. Guilford provides many other tips and techniques; "Fifteen poems you can write now" provides suggestions for specific types of poems. One example is #9, Collect Fabulous Realities, with Denise Levertov's poem "The Metier of Blossoming" used as a model.

Poetry Archive
http://www.poetryarchive.org/poetryarchive/home.do
The Poetry Archive is a great way to enter the world of poetry.
Established in 1999, The Poetry Archive contains readings by hundreds of poets, including a number of real historical gems from those who have passed.

Have a look at the Cleveland Street Intensive English High School website. It has a free resource section on the site which is intended to aid teachers in rural and isolated areas with ESL online materials.  Much of the materials would also be of interest to mainstream teachers of particular KLAs in rural areas.  At present there are 4 units of work in various KLAs. More will be added on a regular basis. Within the units are interactive materials and downloadable, printable materials. The units of work are designed to provide opportunties for self-directed learning. Some of the units (Mangroves, Digestion) also have bilingual support (with key words from each unit translated into a number of languages).

Word Plays - try some of these interactive word games (crossword puzzles, anagrams, bobble, word jumbles etc)

Guide to Grammar and Writing
This user-friendly site offers mnemonics, tutorials, review tests and answers to your questions about grammar.

Interactive Multi-Lingual Demo
Here is a fantastic tool developed by AT&T Research. They have developed a very good text-to-speech synthesizer. Simply type in the text you want read, choose the voice you wish to hear, and you will hear it read! Aside from being a lot of fun, this site has the potential to help reluctant readers and provide voice narration for multimedia presentations. In addition to the English-speaking synthesizers, this engine will also pronounce French, Spanish, and German words typed into this free, web-based synthesizer.
