The EdTechTeam are hosting their second annual Sydney Summit featuring Google for Education to be held at the PLC Sydney in Croydon, New South Wales on April 15 & 16, 2014. This high intensity two day event focuses on deploying, integrating and using Google Apps for Education to promote student learning in K-12 and higher education. The program features Google Certified Teachers, Google Apps for Education Certified Trainers, practicing administrators, solution providers, Google engineers, and representatives from the Google Apps for Education team.

ACCAN & Australian Human Rights Commission icons

The Australian Human Rights Commission and the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network have announced a new accessible app challenge, Apps For All. Prizes and entry deadlines will be announced at a later date with the winners to be revealed at ACCAN's annual conference next year.  The app challenge will be a great authentic ICT assessment task for students as well as providing an opportunity to make a difference to people lives.

The fully Australian edited App Store site has been launched! The curated Education category page covers desktop, iPhone, and iPad apps. This is great news for teachers as it makes alot easier to find apps! Apple has worked with groups of teachers and their own Apps team to highlight quality educational apps for K-12 and Higher Ed educators, students and lifelong learners. The category will be fully refreshed every 3 weeks and curated with apps selected by the Apple Education editors.

April is Autism Awareness Month, so there are lots of Apps on special or free for April (some are only for 24hrs). If you are looking for Apps to help students who have Autism, now is a good time to purchase. Large numbers of consumers, parents, teachers, therapists and AT professionals  purchase mobile and handheld devices and downloading various apps to be used as assistive technology and educational software for people with disabilities. The ability to test and review every app that can be used in this manner is nearly impossible. To aid teachers and AT professionals who may be interested in knowing more about what’s out there, the Maine Department of Education's Maine CITE Program have assembled this resource.
