Lord Howe Island has a total of around 40 students and three teachers.

Teachers are appointed for two years to Lord Howe by merit selection, with an option for further 12 month extensions. The Principal is appointed for a three year term with possible 12 month extensions.

There are two classes - K-2 and a Yr 3-6 with secondary students studying at school with work supplied by Camden Haven Distance Education Centre (Port Macquarie).

Lord Howe Island has been a CAP school since 1984.
