Stage 3 - Problem 3

Problem: Bournda Weather

Strand: Data

Outcome: DS3.1

Due: Wednesday 11 March

Temperature
Most NSW Country Areas Program students live in inland areas of NSW which can be very hot. What is the temperature like in coastal NSW?

The Bournda Environmental Education Centre, on the Far South Coast of NSW, has a weather station that measures the local weather and uploads the data to their website every 15 minutes.

You can see this data at Current Weather at Bournda Environmental Education Centre.

Your task is to go to the site each school day from Monday 2nd to Wednesday 11th March and read the Outside Temperature graph to find the maximum and minimum temperatures for each day as well as what time each occurred.

Record at least five days of data and graph the temperature information.

What did you find out about the temperature at Bournda?

If you miss a day click the This month's weather link near the bottom of the page.

How do these temperatures compare to your area?

You can find the temperatures for your area for the same days by:
1. Going to the Weatherzone site
2. Entering the local postcode
3. Choosing a location
4. Clicking This Month

Your task is to make a graph of the Bournda data and a graph of your local data.

Use the site Create A Graph to construct your graphs.
