How do I display my mobile device on a TV or interactive whiteboard?
Mobile devices such as the iPad have connectors as well as an operating system which allows the content to be displayed on alternative screen. The big question is whether you going to be wired or wireless.
If you are going to connect directly from your mobile device to the TV or data projector you will need the appropriate cable. In the case of IOS-based devices Apple manufacture a range of connectors that can be purchased at stores such as Dick Smith or directly from Apple's online store. Android based devices which have a HDMI port can also be connected to external display screens.
If you have a wireless network, within your classroom/school you can plug a streaming video device such as an Apple TV into your data projector or TV. It is then a matter of pairing your mobile device to the Apple TV so that you can stream content from the device and have displayed on the larger screen. The caveat is that many new streaming devices only have HDMI connectors and all the dire projectors have VGA or RCA connectors. Listed below is a link to an Australian supplier of converters.
