Bush Poetry Tips.
1. Remember rhyme is the heart of any bush poem.
2. Concentrate on the rhyming words at the end of each line. This will help you to keep the rhythm going.
3. Learn the poem word for word. Don't add or take away words because it will effect the rhythm of the poem.
4. Highlight any alliteration in the poem (the repeating of the first consonant in several words in the same line.
eg. Men can sail the seven seas in ships of steel so stout.
5. Often bush poetry is written using older words, for example the above word "stout".
Find the meaning of any unknown words. You can't read a poem if you don't know what it means.
6. Most importantly bush poems ore stories and are supposed to be fun! Highlight the plot and the humour.
