Using PowerPoint to Make a Presentation

1. Open the PowerPoint program from the shortcut on the desktop or from clicking on START- PROGRAMS-MICROSOFT POWERPOINT.

2. Click on BLANK PRESENTATION then OK.

3. You first need to choose the type of slide you want to start with. This is usually one with just a title and maybe a picture.

4. If you wish to choose a DESIGN TEMPLATE for your presentation click on FORMAT- APPLY DESIGN TEMPLATE and choose the style you like.

5. You can then type in your title and any other information and if you want to add a picture you go to INSERT-PICTURE-CLIPART and choose what you want as for PUBLISHER, then you can scale it to the size you want.

6. If you want any part of the slide to be animated you click on it so it is selected then click on the STAR on the toolbar. A new window comes up and you can select your preference. You can preview this by clicking on the preview button. You can edit your animations at any time.

7. When you want to add a new slide click on INSERT-NEW SLIDE, choose the layout type and OK.

8. If you want to view your whole show on one page you can choose VIEW-SLIDE SORTER. You can also add notes to the bottom of each slide that can be printed off and used as speaker notes when you are giving your presentation.

9. If you want to PREVIEW your whole show you can go to VIEW-SLIDE SHOW and click on mouse to change to each slide.

10. There are a lot of other things you can do like adding sounds and other effects if you want to, but this is just a basic overview of how to run it and you can play around and work out any other little extras on your own or use the HELP section.

11. When you have finished working remember to save it onto a floppy disk for your presentation.
