Levers are used to move loads. They all have

• a load
• a fulcrum
• an arm

Materials

• Ruler
• Pencil
• Plasticine
• Sticky tape

Procedure

1. Use sticky tape to attach a pencil to the bottom side of a ruler. Make sure it is in the middle.

2. Place this on your desk and see if you can balance two equal pieces of plasticine at each end like a see-saw. This is what is called a lever.

3. Double the size of the plasticine on one end. How can you still keep the ruler balanced ?
