Simple Pulleys

A pulley is a wheel with a grooved rim. A rope can be pulled through the groove.
Materials
Procedure
1. Two people sit on chairs facing each other, two metres apart. Each person will hold a broom handle horizontally with both hands.
2. The third person stands between them, holding onto the broom handles and trying to pull the broom handles together.
3. Tie a rope to one of the brooms and loop it around the other. The third person now stands behind the person holding the broom with the rope tied to it and pulls on the rope to try to pull the students out of their chairs.
4. The person, still standing, makes another loop around both brooms and tries to pull the students of their chairs.
5. Repeat this process, making an another loop each time.
Observations
What happened each time you added another loop around the brooms ?
