Community Groups
BACKGROUND
Every community has a group - or a variety of groups - of people who help us in different ways. These organisations make many contributions to our communities.
YOUR TASK:
The Head of Broadcasting at Channel 93 - your local TV Station - wants you to make a documentary about one of the following groups in your community.
The groups in your community are:
- Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia
- The Salvation Army
- State Emergency Service
- St John Ambulance
- St Vincent De Paul
- The Smith Family
- Volunteer Rescue Association
From these, select three to research to make your final decision .
Which group will you choose? What are your reasons for choosing this group?
POINTS TO CONSIDER:
WHERE DO I FIND THE INFORMATION?
You may also like to interview members of the community that work for the organisations.

WHAT DO I DO WITH THE INFORMATION?
1 Print out and complete the summary page to record your information using key words.
2 Make your decision.
3 Use the Decision Page to summarise your conclusions.
HOW DO I PRESENT MY WORK?
You may present your information as:
- a slide show using ClarisWorks/AppleWorks or KidPix Deluxe / Kid Pix Three or Powerpoint
- a storyboard
- an oral report (perhaps on cassette tape)
- you may have your own idea
