Camels

There are two different types of camels. Arabian camels have one hump and Bactrian camels have two humps.

Arabian Camel

Has one hump and is covered with short thick hair

Height - Up to 2 metres tall

Weight - Up to 720 kilograms

Diet: Desert plants and lots of water.

Where it lives: Hot deserts of North Africa, Asia and Australia.

How long does it live? About 40 years.

Bactrian Camel

Has two humps and is covered in shaggy hair which falls off in the summer.

Height - Up to 2 metres tall

Weight - Up to 800 kilograms

Diet: Desert plants and lots of water

Where it lives: Rocky deserts of Asia.

How long does it live? About 40 years.
