A wombat is a marsupial that lives in a burrow.
With its strong front claws it digs a large tunnel and sleeping chamber.
The burrow can be found in many places eg. under a tree, a riverbank or in a paddock where there is a good supply of food.
Their food consists of roots and grasses.
The pouch on a female wombat is facing towards the rear so that when they dig, it does not fill up with dirt and protects the baby inside that is attached to a teat.
