Teddy Bears

Toy bears were first called Teddy Bears in 1902 after the American President Theodore Roosevelt (also called Teddy Roosevelt) went bear hunting.

A small store owner sewed a small bear and asked the President if he could call it Teddy.  They then sold  Teddy Bears all around the world.

A new baby's first toy is often a teddy bear.
