Traditionally Aboriginals from different groups would meet at these grounds. For example sometimes in the mountains, along the coast or inland areas near rivers and landforms.

There are many sites scattered throughout Australia that are proof of ceremonial sites. Some of these sites are marked by Bora Rings. A Bora Ring is the name given to a raised area of dirt in the shape of a circle.
