Computing Innovations

1940-Present

Assignment 2 - Graphic Organizer

You are now gathering information about computing innovations (hardware and/or software) that appeared for the first time during your decade. The decades are as follows:

1940-1949,

1950-1959,

1960-1969,

1970-1979,

1980-1989,

1990-Present.

Several students will be researching the same decade but will be working independently, so that a variety of information is presented.

It's time to begin your research...

1. Print out the graphic organizer, to use for taking your notes.

2. Find four different computer items (hardware and/or software) invented during your decade.

E.g.: DO use computer ( IBM XT), operating system (DOS), programming language (Pascal), printer (type of dot matrix), special keyboard (ergonomic style), backup tape drive, etc. as different items

E.g.: DO NOT use Windows 3.0, 3.1 and 95 (these are all similar and are considered one type of item)

3. Write down the most important information that you find. You may need to look at a few different web sites to find the best information.

4. Collect pictures while you are finding information.

Instructions:
1) Create a Word document saved as Photos;
2) Copy the pictures from the web sites and paste them into your Word document (your Word document should stay open while you are searching);
3) Make sure you write down where you found the Photos.  These sources will be needed for a bibliography later.
