A new exhibition at the Museum of Sydney Home front: wartime Sydney 1939–45 shows how life in Sydney was transformed during wartime. This series of talks has been organised to coincide with the exhibition and will give Stage 5 History students the opportunity to meet and engage in conversation with visiting experts in the field of WWII home front history without leaving their classrooms.

Applications for the 2012 Premier's Teacher Scholarships close next Friday 4/5/2012.  The 2012 Premier's Teacher Scholarships allow teachers to undertake a five week study tour in one of the available scholarship categories. The Premier's Teacher Scholarships are a very rewarding experience on a personal and professional level. All teachers are encouraged to apply.

The fully Australian edited App Store site has been launched! The curated Education category page covers desktop, iPhone, and iPad apps. This is great news for teachers as it makes alot easier to find apps! Apple has worked with groups of teachers and their own Apps team to highlight quality educational apps for K-12 and Higher Ed educators, students and lifelong learners. The category will be fully refreshed every 3 weeks and curated with apps selected by the Apple Education editors.

April is Autism Awareness Month, so there are lots of Apps on special or free for April (some are only for 24hrs). If you are looking for Apps to help students who have Autism, now is a good time to purchase. If you registered prior to this date please reapply now. And yes you heard it right. Collie, is now Dr Collie! In 2011 Collie quietly went back to University so he could follow his love of science and officially become a scientist! 

Inclusive Learning Technologies Conference 2012

Attending the Inclusive Learning Technologies Conference 2012

The release of Every Student, Every School - Learning and Support higlights the need for professional learning for skilled and knowledgeable teachers. An excellent source of professional learning is the fifth biennial Inclusive Learning Technologies Conference scheduled for the 22nd - 25th May 2012. Hosted by Spectronics, the conference focuses specifically on “inclusive learning technologies”. These technologies are designed to advance independent achievement for students with disabilities and / or those who struggle with reading and writing. A key focus of the conference is helping  particpants to understand how to APPLY these technologies in your classroom, home, workplace or support organisation.

Professional learning for beginning & early career teachers in Equity schools

Recently CAP Northern Network consultants – Toni Withers and Carla Saunders, joined with Priority Schools Program Consultants; Nina Russell, Wendy Foster, and PSP Partnership Officer -Heath Rogers, to deliver a Professional Learning experience to teachers in Equity schools in the New England Region.  “Kick start with Equity “was held at Inverell and involved 2 days of workshops, sharing and networking. Designed to connect Beginning and Early career Teachers in small, isolated and rural schools, the aim was to provide support targeting the professional needs of teachers from these schools.

In what is a definite coup for the Coonabarabran High School Writer’s Festival 2012, the festival committee has announced the attendance of former rugby great and acclaimed biographer and sports writer Peter FitzSimons AM.
